The startle was mostly declarer's in two parts.
First, 2
was allowed to play where usually two of
any minor is a curiosity to see and with so many of the 2nd suit, perhaps
before dummy's tabling the hand is won.
The second startle was not a word from any player, not even partner, about
the first four card major opening in any seat in years, perhaps the second
ever for the partnership of ten years and perhaps 40 or more sessions: 1000
hands maybe...in competition.
West's trick one
K was ruffed and spade ruffs pursued.
West won the
A and donated the
Q
to declarer's
A.
A spade was ruffed in dummy.
East somehow developed a
K penalty card, played to
a string of declarer trump draws and there were in total 3 spades, 7 diamonds
and 1 heart.
