 Funny Looking K Play

Rotated to South declarer: originally board: 9

West started the defence with a small diamond, East contributing the 8.
South won the J.

Clubs were started, East winning the first with A.
Instead of a patient 5 exit, East led K, perhaps expecting West to have a still guarded A
and perhaps a J to lead and clear that suit.

Declarer won the A and instead of trying to sneak a heart trick leading towards dummy's Q cashed clubs and feebly tried to squash an offside remaining singleton J by eventually leading from dummy the Q.
Not best? Maybe East would duck? Just one sneaky try over another?

North's standard for a vulnerable 2 bid opposite a passed partner isn't for the squeemish.

"Okay...who's lying?" South might have during the auction wondered.
