West led a diamond won in dummy.
Declarer took stock and won first club in hand.
West had shown diamonds in the auction. If clubs had divided 3:0, East would have had more non-diamonds. However West, if void clubs, would tend to have a hand suited to a double than a 1 bid.
A study of the odds of clubs dividing 2:1 in such auctions as this might be instructive.

Clubs were run ending in dummy, West discarding 4 diamonds.

At TEAM or IMP scoring, it might be advisable to cash next diamonds and lead finally a heart towards hand.
At Matchpoint scoring however, given West's low quality diamond suit, and a point requisite, South would have done better to gamble on West being more likely to hold the A and start hearts before running diamonds, retaining a 3rd heart in hand rather increasing the probability of simply contract success (an IMP/TEAMS strategy).
