You can also make as a Splinter Bid a Jump Shift by Opener:
Instead of a game forcing hand with 5+ spades and longer diamonds, infrequent,
consider using Opener's Jump Shift to a Major as a Splinter.
Choose it to be a Limit Raise, much like a 3
bid, with 4 trump, short in the jumped to suit (or Game Forcing).
